Thank you! Your generosity helps the Newton Free Library maintain a treasured community space, providing access to literature, music, games, tools, technology, unique programming, and so much more. Visited by more than 400,000 people annually, we are grateful for philanthropic gifts that help improve and enhance every area of the Library each day.

Please click here to review our Annual Appeal & Impact Report for Fiscal Year 2023, and thank you for helping us to make the Newton Free Library one of the most-loved libraries in Massachusetts.

Gifts to the Trustees of the Newton Free Library’s Annual Fund supplement the operating funds we receive from the City, providing much appreciated support for our collections, capital needs, staff development, and programs.

Donations to the Trustees of Newton Free Library are tax deductible.

As outlined in IRS publication 526, donations to federal, state, and local governments, when made for public purposes such as supporting the Library, are tax-deductible.

2023 Impact Report and Annual Appeal

Philanthropic donations to the Trustees of the Newton Free Library allow us to:

  •      grow and maintain a diverse physical and electronic collection;
  •      support assessment tools for participants in our English Language Learner Program;
  •      replace broken and misplaced items in our Library of Things;
  •      create a comfortable and accessible space for children, teens, and adults;
  •      provide Library staff with opportunities for professional development; and
  •      enrich hundreds of thousands of lives through art, music, literacy, and learning.

You may also consider:

  • A memorial gift, which is a meaningful and lasting way to remember a loved one.
  • A gift in honor of a treasured someone, a thoughtful way to celebrate a birthday, honor a graduate, or commemorate an anniversary or special event.
  • A matching gift, a wonderful way to boost your donation. Check to see if your employer has a matching gift program.
  • Joining the 1875 Society through a bequest or other planned gift, a powerful way to make a lasting impact in the Newton community.
